DAZZLING SINCE 1995
The Grands Feux Loto-Québec have been lighting up the skies over Quebec City region since 1995. In total, 157 pyromusical shows have enchanted young and old alike. Each of these shows required more than 60 hours of design and preparation in the workshop, 250 hours of installation and 4000 detonations.
A BIT OF HISTORY
Originally presented in the Chute-Montmorency Park as part of an international fireworks competition, it was Mr. Marcel Dallaire who first had the idea of organizing fireworks in the Capitale-Nationale region. He will be the president and director of the GFLQ until March 2010.
In 2008, for the 400th anniversary of Quebec City, the fireworks will be launched for the first time from a barge placed on the Saint-Lawrence River. This experience will convince Mr. Dallaire to make it the new spot for the pyromusical shows for the following years.
The creations PYRO, a non-profit organization was created in 2011 and will act as a promoter for the GFLQ for the following years. In 2012, the organization will abandon the competition component and will prefer a festival and free event by associating itself with several major partners.
The Quai Paquet in Lévis and the Place des Canotiers in the Old-Port of Quebec City will become the main hubs of the event offering entertainment, and since last year, food trucks, bars and shows by local artists.
